My Trip to the Joe

Playoff hockey is one of if not the best thing in sports. The amount of emotion and adrenaline you can capture in a hockey arena during the postseason is unmatched in any other sport. Here is my journey to a playoff game at Joe Louis Arena between the Red Wings and Lightning (April 2016).

Walking up these stairs after crossing Yzerman Avenue is when you start to feel the adrenaline and nerves.

Warmups taking place. The pre game skate is an opportunity to make sure all euqipment is ready to go plus a chance to get some shots in.

The pre game intro was electric. The hype built up to a whole new level, leaving 20,000 Red Wings fans standing and screaming at the top of their lungs.

Gordie Howe (on the right) is one of the top 3-4 players of all time in hockey. Getting an opportunity to meet him and get his autograph is still one my favorite memories to this day.

This is when the place was the loudest. After scoring a 2nd goal to take a 2-0 lead, a huge fight breaks out along the boards below. The atmosphere at this moment was like something I hadn’t only experienced once or twice in my lifetime.

The Red Wings win and a celebration breaks out.
